R.A.M. Healthcare Consulting Group is seeking a certified Oncology Data Specialist in Southern California.
Job Summary:
**This position is 95% Remote.
Under indirect supervision, identifies, registers, and maintains records of patients treated for cancer to provide data for physicians and research studies, utilizing a tumor registry data system.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Identifies and compiles patient data from a range of relevant sources, including medical facilities and patients, and arranges for data collection as appropriate.
2. Abstracts data, including patient demographics, diagnostic procedures, history and extent of disease, treatment, follow-up, physician, and related information from medical records; codes data into the database according to strict protocol requirements.
3. Reviews data for completeness and accuracy and follows up with data sources as necessary.
4. Researches medical and other relevant facilities, clinics, physician offices, and pathology laboratories and identifies opportunities for gaining access to cancer data or for conducting special projects and studies, reviews data for accuracy and completeness, and enters information into the database. Serves as liaison between facilities and R.A.M. Healthcare Group Inc.
5. Reviews incoming data documentation and performs re-abstracting and case finding for special projects as assigned.
6. Coordinates the activities of abstractors engaged in the collection of data; quality controls data collected; trains newly hired abstractors as required.
7. Performs data analysis and prepares reports within protocol parameters of the study and other guidelines.
8. Educates data collection staff on study requirements and data collection methodology. Develops training material and presents training to colleagues on special interest cases.
9. May review pathology reports, cytology reports, bone marrow reports, autopsy reports, death certificates, disease indices, and radiation, oncology, and physician logs to identify possible cancer cases.
10. May work on special studies/projects as assigned.
11. May travel to facilities within the agreement of the accepted contract
12. May participate in Tumor Board Conferences; work closely with Pathology, Radiology, other physicians and various departments to ensure needed patient studies are available in a timely manner for Conferences; and attend and monitor Conferences.
13. May perform duties needed to meet accreditation/certification standards.
14. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
15. Must have experience with Tumor Board Meetings.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Holds Current ODS Credential (National Cancer Registrar’s Association)
Minimum 3 years experience as an ODS-C
