R.A.M. Healthcare Consulting Group is seeking a Patient Representative to assist a Burlingame, California client.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Prepares the files for the next day’s clinic.
• Pulls files and places them in order.
• Obtains information for the client and places it in a folder. Files are in the office folders according to the appointment day.
• Checks pending file daily for authorizations. Once approved, print a copy. Place the copy in the client’s folder and re-file.
• Order charts from medical records on patients seen at the previous day’s clinic. Files form into the chart and separate with a “travel” clinic divider. Returns charts to medical records.
• Checks patient information form for insurance data.
• Verifies insurance.
• Receives registrations for the travel clinic appointments from the appointment clerk. Each registration should be in a labeled manila folder.
• Checks the alphabetical list of scheduled patients weekly and removes any folders for patients who did not show up for their appointment and the date of their scheduled trip is past.
• Assists travel nurse with word processing functions as needed.
• Performs clerical functions, such as filing and copying, as requested and time allows.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Basic knowledge of insurance policies and procedures, as well as patient billing.
Ability to interpret various data and instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Possess written and verbal communication skills to communicate with fellow team members, supervisors, patients, and other hospital personnel.
Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including prioritizing assignments and working within standardized policies and procedures to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook).
Prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies and procedures to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
Work independently and as part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
Identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
Ensure the privacy of each patient’s Protected Health Information (PHI).
Build collaborative relationships with peers and other staff members to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
Experience Preferred:
• 1 year Patient Representative Experience
• Bilingual: Spanish preferred

• Checks in patients and ensures all necessary authorizations are obtained before patient visits.
• Obtains patient’s medical history and insurance information to complete forms for processing purposes.
• Communicate with patients clearly and professionally to alleviate confusion and expedite processes.
• Ensures routine and priority tasks are completed within established departmental time frames.
• Performs general clerical tasks, such as answering phones and greeting customers and patients daily.
• Prepares and completes accurate, job-related documentation, including collecting, updating, and maintaining patient medical and insurance information.
• Performs job responsibilities in compliance with department standards, policies, and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulatory agencies, to deliver the highest level of service.
• Maintains strictest confidence in all patient-protected health information (PHI) and protects all PHI from accidental, intentional, or inappropriate disclosure.
EDUCATION:
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
• HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
• 1 year of recent relevant experience.
• Bilingual: Spanish preferred
